Nostalgia – the heavy metal world is full of it. Keyboard warriors everywhere harping on about “only the old stuff is real,” and yet sometimes the revisionists are missing out on a band’s best output. You see with age comes wisdom, ability and often a new-found drive that means bands can get better with time. Yes, we all love their youthful ‘classics’ and there are our own important memories attached to those early albums, but sometimes latter day albums are just as good if you just give them the time of day. Venom Inc. are a good point in question – what started as a bit of fun has just snowballed into a full-time proposition and it’s awesome to hear new metal tunes from a classic band. No bad blood, no bullshit, just a strong desire to keep old songs alive and create some new classics on the way. Have a read of our cover story this month and decide for yourselves, but we reckon you’ll be pleasantly surprised with their new output. The Devil still has all the best tunes.
