Axl Rose Becoming AC/DC’s New Singer

Axl Rose lead singer with GNR is hit by a water bottle during the live performance O2 Dublin

In April, the reunited Guns N’ Roses are playing six shows, two in Las Vegas, two in Mexico, and two at Coachella. A full-blown tour may be in the works — when a fan bumped into Axl into Atlanta, the hard-partying singer allegedly said, “We’re gonna do a whole tour” — but nothing has been announced yet. Besides, Axl doesn’t have the time to see if he can still threaten to fight Bob Guccione, Jr. at Spin — he’s too busy reportedly auditioning for AC/DC.

On his radio show, Atlanta-based DJ Jason Bailey said a “very, very good source” told him “Axl was meeting with [AC/DC].” It’s “all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows” on their tour, after doctors advised Brian Johnson to stop performing live, or risk “total hearing loss.”

“From what I was told, this was all kind of new inside information to me, Angus is a very black and white guy. He’s like, Brian, for health reasons, can’t continue fronting the band. He was supposed to retire after the last tour, so they wanted to continue going out on the road and continue making music, so if you can’t do it, we appreciate your services, but the show must go on. They’re in town, they were auditioning people for the job, and then they flew Axl in, again, this is from my source.”

If Axl Rose gets a hall pass to cheat on Guns N’ Roses with AC/DC, it’s only fair that Slash is allowed to do the same with Aerosmith. Duff McKagan’s been sleeping with Loaded for years, but no one seems to notice

Gothic Punk - How to Get the Goth Punk Look

[ad_1]

The gothic punk look is one that is often misunderstood.  In actuality, goth and punk are two separate subcultures.  Punk is more closely drawn to the punk rock music scene, and many punk and rock music fans are mistaken for being part of the goth subculture.

Goth, rather than being based upon any certain type of music, is seen as its proponents more as a means of personal expression.  Often, dressing in the goth style is a reaction to feeling separate from those around them, whether as outcasts, or as a general feeling of just being different.

The gothic look draws its influences from many sources.  Clothing typically emulates that of the middle ages, Victorian age, or early twentieth century.  The make-up is heavily dark, with use of black eyeliner by both male and female goths.

This cosmetic style is thought to be influenced at least partially by the early silent film actress, Theda Bara, whose large eyes, dark make-up, and dark hair was especially striking on screen.

While gothic punk isn't a style all its own, it's common for goths and punks to share some similarities in their dress and attitude.  Both are fiercely independent and believe strongly in self expression.

Typically, both are meticulous about their specialized hair styles and make-up.  It is in choice of color and fashion that the two differ the most.

Punk clothes are often deconstructed.  That is, they are purposefully torn, or they can look unfinished, and additionally, they are usually modern.

Goths, on the other hand, rely on well-fitted garments and convey their style through choice of color, fabric, and most importantly, accessories, and their clothing is usually based on earlier centuries' fasions.

The other typical focus of gothic clothing is on emphasizing sexuality.  The goth look is often revealing.  Fitted garments and corset accentuate the female form.  Hose and tights are ripped to showcase the legs, and tight pants on both genders have the same effect.

Both punk and goth dressers reject mainstream styles and sensibilities, so it is common for people to confuse or combine them into a sort of gothic punk.

Gothic Architecture and Design - Cathedrals and Buildings

[ad_1]

Gothic architecture was first used in cathedrals in France during the 12th and 13th century. The Cathedral Basilica of St.Denis is one of the most famous examples of a Gothic cathedral created during the medieval period. Abbot Suger (1081-1151) a French historian and Gothic architect, was the mind behind its creation. Suger's inspirations came from travels to the east where pointed arches, varying colours and detailed patterns were used.

Traditionally, monks were the architects that designed churches in France, and often their creations were basic and practical. However; as powers in France increased there was also an increased desire to create symbols of religion and authority that were grand and spacious. Out of this need emerged concepts in Gothic architecture and design.

One of the first changes Gothic architecture brought to cathedral design was a change in vaulting. Architects worked on how to substitute a stone vault for a wooden roof, while incorporating the use of intersecting stone ribs. That lead to the development of expanded of windows, the use of flying buttresses for support, and the use of slender piers.

Gothic windows covered almost the entire wall surface and had varied designs with delicate stone decorations. The thick and heavy walls traditionally used in Romanesque cathedrals to create stability were abandoned and walls were made thinner and used as an active skeleton that integrated arches, piers and buttresses.

During the medieval period cathedrals were built in two forms: Romanesque and Gothic. Romanesque cathedrals had a few distinctive features. Firstly, the buildings used rounded arches for structure support. The rounded top of these arches exuded an increased force onto the cathedral walls, and thus the walls had to be thick for support. Additionally, buttresses were added along the side of the outer walls as support. Due to the thickness of the walls around the base of arches and the obstruction of the buttresses, windows could only be placed near the top of the walls and were small in size. Only smaller windows could be places along the lower sides of the walls, if they were even placed at all. The overall structures in these cathedrals resembled that of a fortress.

Gothic cathedrals created structures that managed structure forces differently. Gothic architects used flying buttresses to support cathedral arches. Basically, this meant that rather than placing the buttress directly next to the arch wall for support, the buttress was attached to the wall with a smaller connecting arch arm, creating support for the walls and rounded arches. This displaced the force from the arch walls and buttress to the foundation. Because of the space the flying buttress created between the walls and the supporting buttresses, windows could be placed lower on walls where the sun could enter and could also be made larger.Additionally, pointed arches were used as opposed to rounded for increased roof support.

Gothic architecture in cathedrals became the art of erecting buildings with stone vaults and thin walls, whose ribs intersected (concentration of load) and whose thrusts were supported by flying buttresses (the grounding of the thrusts). The downward and outward thrust of the vaulting was met by an equivalent resistance in buttress and solid earth, resulting in an equilibrium from well-adjusted opposing forces.

Although many think Gothic architecture was mainly concerned with elaborate design and heavy ornamentation, in actuality Gothic architecture emerged as a response to structural need with sound engineering. All forms of decoration came as an after thought to the practical designs. Gothic masters of work often said "nothing which is inherently needed could be ugly." Gothic cathedrals sought to create larger buildings with increased support while doing away with blank walls and solid bland surfaces. Interestingly, modern copies of Gothic architecture tend to ignore the original engineering intent of the structures and often place a heavy emphasis on decoration.

But their scary front man has been roped in by the BBC to give Doctor Who viewers a proper fright this series. Corey Taylor – who has sold 60 million albums with the heavy metal group – will lend his deafening roar to alien warlord the Fisher King as he battles Time Lord Peter Capaldi. Corey, 41, is a massive Whovian and when producers heard Slipknot were playing in Cardiff in January, they put out feelers. An insider said: “Production got in touch with Slipknot because they heard Corey and the band love the show.” US metalhead Corey was named the seventh-greatest metal front man ever by NME magazine. Harry Potter-Themed Shots Will Have You Chasing After ‘That Flighty Temptress, Adventure

More: alcohol, harry potter, shots
Recently, there’s been news of a Harry Potter themed bar and restaurant called The Lockhart. Unfortunately, we can’t all visit Toronto and get a seat at The Lockhart. That’s okay because these Harry Potter-themed shooters from Graphic Nerdity can help fill the void in your very own home.
(Source: Tumblr/Graphic Nerdity) (Source: Tumblr/Graphic Nerdity)
Sorry young fans, this is strictly for the 21+ crowd.
Called “Harry Shotters,” the themed shots are punnily-named and filled with a bevy of booze. As Graphic Nerdity says, “These drinks are not for beginners. By that I mean only experienced Harry Potter fans will appreciate the puns that went into making them.” Judging by the ingredients for the Avada Tequila, these shooters are indeed not for beginner drinkers — or experienced ones, even. Most of these concoctions probably taste as good as Polyjuice Potion. But hey, we all know how well that works!* *Wears off quickly and is not a surefire disguise, so drink these shots with caution.

Tabasco sauce? This one will certainly leave wounds in your mouth.
There were some other ideas that Graphic Nerdy didn’t see through, for unknown reasons. Lord Vodkamort, Flourish & Blattoed  and Cognac McLaggen were left off the list. Personally I’d love to see whatFlourish & Blattoed is. If you’re more of a visual person, these drawings of the shots from Michelle Richard may help you better understand how crazy of a night you’ll have after a round of them. Because we’re all fans here, please share more ideas for Harry Shotters.
After seeing the amazing recipes from http://graphicnerdity.com/, I decided to make my own version of “Harry Shotter”.   Go like https://www.facebook.com/michellericharddesign for more of my work!!! TEMPESCOPE SIMULATES THE WEATHER FORECAST IN A BOX

For when you’ve had enough of the weatherman, which is like, always. The Tempescope is a cool invention that lets you know of tomorrow’s weather forecast by actually simulating sunshine, rain, fog, and even lightning indoors. Created by Japanese designer Ken Kawamoto, the device features a small box that gathers weather information online and then simulates that forecast using a combination of LED light, water, and ultrasonics (for the fog). Great if you’re too lazy to get up off the couch and look out the window. DIY experts can help themselves to Kawamoto’s open source version for the Tempescopeby accessing it at ‘OpenTempescope’. Others will have to wait a bit longer as the Tempescope team is still getting ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign later this year.

Korean man arrested for boiling 600 cats alive, selling the meat for use in soup

stray1

Cat lovers may want to sit down for this.

South Korean police arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of catching up to 600 stray cats around his neighborhood, boiling them alive, skinning and gutting the carcasses and then selling the meat to locals for use in a special medicinal soup. The Korea JoongAng Daily reported on the incident on May 21, writing that the Pusan Police Department arrested the man on May 21 on charges of violating Korea’s animal protection laws, although the case appears to still be under investigation. The man is accused of luring neighborhood stray cats with food, then capturing them and throwing them – alive – into a vat of boiling water in his home. He would then, police allege, skin and butcher the cats and store the meat in his freezer until buyers came around. The accused apparently engaged in this activity for a period of a little over a year starting in February, 2014 – killing up to 600 felines in that time. stray2 Police, the JoongAng Daily reports, were quoted as saying that a rumor has been doing the rounds in South Korea – presumably among the elderly community – which purports that cat meat, if boiled in a soup, helps to relieve arthritis. They advised Koreans to avoid illegally obtained cat meat, the JoongAng Daily notes, as it is unregulated in South Korea, unlike other more common meats such as beef and pork. Now, since I can picture the comments section for this story quickly becoming a roiling cauldron of outrage, let’s note that, this individual’s heinous crimes aside, each country has its own cultural taboos when it comes to the consumption of certain animals and one country’s adorable pet may be another country’s delicious stew ingredient. Hell, I would gladly eat (frankly quite delicious) horse meat every single day if I could, but that’s illegal in some countries. The JoongAng itself also reported as early as 2010 that cats, which were apparently once shunned by the Korean public, are becoming increasingly popular pets in Korea, so these Eastern medicine beliefs about cat meat are sure to fall by the wayside sooner or later if they haven’t already. That said, animal cruelty should never be condoned and we hope the 18 live cats – apparently destined for the pot – police found in the man’s dwelling find a good and caring home.
